Town & Country

Normally, I try and live in the "here and now" and enjoy every moment, but this morning, I can't wait for today to be over. I'm off to the big city for a three hour series of interviews as part of hustling up a better job.
I spent a fair chunk of last night worrying about interviews, instead of dreaming of nice uncrowded walls.
I must have got some sleep in there somewhere, because in the middle of a cranking Kirra-like right the alarm went off.
Wish me luck or say a prayer for me. Thanks.

Guitar Amp and Vintage

It's back to brighten the dark nights and short days of winter - the 2011 Guitar Amp and Vintage Show See guitar stuff, hear guitar stuff, buy guitar stuff. Reignite your passion with the pentatonic scale or just buy some bargain strings to replace those 12 rusty disgustings on your little sister's hand me down steel string.

For the fret fanatics, there will be plenty of workshops and live performances including the legend  Tim Gaze whose guitar magic with band Taman Shud on the Morning of the Earth soundtrack still inspires. Stick it to the global financial circus and keep the economy going by buying a hand made instrument of sonic delight from one of Brinetopia's local luthiers.

Early Morning Fog

My mind is foggy this morning after a night of insomnia and losing my camera when I eventually started dreaming. I did manage to ride a few nice waves at Kirra in another dream, so that almost compensated for the tossing and turning. A very strong coffee, water, muesli, banana, dates and I'm almost ready to face the city.

Brine Brothers

Not every surfer lives at the beach, as this bunch of brine brothers from Brisbane attest. Just about every saturday morning, you'll see them somewhere near the Gold Coast Superbank riding anything from old skool Bill Wallace logs to high octane fishes, with all the enthusiasm of a grommet. And then when surfed out, packing up the car and driving an hour or more back to Brisbane where they live and work. Thanks to former Woosley team rider, Tony Stewart for emailing me this pic - a classic no matter where you live. Tony also drew and organised the team tees. That's him front centre - not to be confused with his twin Bill, who owned Atlantis Records at Southport. Slide on.
