Solstice

Those versed in the ancient arts of alchemy, astrology and astronomy will already know that today is our solstice - a time of potent portents when powerful forces are unleashed by the universe. Strangers perform random acts of kindness. Wallets get opened inexplicably. Plastic cards are exchanged for righteous fins, ballads, booze and wax.

And all around Christmas trees an office photocopiers, there is talk of spinning weather systems, spinning waves, spinning politicians and the existence of global warming, Jesus and Santa.

No matter what you believe, I hope you have a brilliant Christmas and a healthy and harmonious New Year.

Keepin it Green

Found this scribbled note this morning:
"21 September 2006
It starts before you can see it - a low rumble to the north that puts an end to the natural songs of Bird Hour. As the last lights in Orion's Belt fade overhead the din approaches. And before you have brewed the first of many coffees for the day, it arrives -  a great metal goanna of cars and buses and trains full of commuters, chasing a dollar."

Road Trip

Some of the Brine Team hit the road dark and early yesterday. This was shot around 430am at a very shakey 1/60 second, without a tripod. Not bad for me. And our only stop en route.

Big thanks to Andrew, our driver and the other crew who made it such an enjoyable session - Big Paul, Barry, Phil, Mark and Dean. We all managed to get quite a few slides in - though wave of the day award was shared by Big Paul and Dean who collided causing a dent in Dean's board and remarkably, not a scratch on Paul's head.
